PAPER, PAINT, PASTEL, and PATTERN
Collaborative works by Annette
Chaplin, Joy Colangelo, Sheila Delimont, Cheryl Kampe and Marybeth Rinehart
You may have seen the work of any one of these local artists. But for
the past two years, they have forged an unusual collaboration. From
photographs of local scenes, they each applied their distinct medium.
Annette and Joy use batik fabrics to create stunning collages and Sheila
Delimont is known for her luminous landscape paintings of the West. Cheryl
Kampe paints the Monterey Central Coast combining detail and abstract
regions while Marybeth Rinehart creates paper collages that fracture a scene
while unifying it at the same time.
Using paper, paint, pastel and
patterned fabrics, these artists not only produced a body of collaborative
work, but to their surprise, formed profound friendships along the way.
